University of the Aegean/ Sociology (Gender Studies)/Academic Staff/ Assistant Professor in Gender Sociology
More about me
I am Assistant Professor of Sociology of Gender at the University of the Aegean. My research and teaching focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, class, race, disability, and coloniality, with a particular emphasis on violence against women, LGBTQI+ rights, and migration. I approach these topics from an intersectional, feminist perspective, seeking to understand the experiences of marginalized social groups and the power relations that shape their lives. I have a strong commitment to human rights and social justice, and I have conducted fieldwork in diverse settings, including Lesvos, Harare, and Kyiv. My work engages with migration, refugee issues, queer activism and feminism, themes that resonate with the core values of this mentorship opportunity. I have experience mentoring students both in formal academic settings and through hands-on guidance in research projects. I believe this mentorship role would allow me to support new scholars and activists by helping them navigate complex social issues, develop their critical thinking skills, and turn their ideas into impactful projects. I am drawn to this opportunity as it aligns closely with my interests in democracy, human rights, inclusion, and equity, and I am excited to contribute to shaping the next generation of social change-makers.
