    Dr. Stelios Zimeras holds a BSc. (Hons) on Statistics and Insurance Sciences from University of Piraeus (5fth in the rank) and Ph.D. on Statistics from the University of Leeds, U.K. He had received a full scholarship (fees and maintenance) during his research studies (1993-1997) from the University of Leeds. Since 2020, he is a full time staff member (Associate Professor) on Applied Statistics and Big Data at the Department of Statistics and Financial-Actuarial Mathematics, University of the Aegean, Samos, Greece. Since 2020 he is Head of the Department of Statistics and Financial-Actuarial Mathematics, University of the Aegean, Samos, Greece.
    He had worked as post-doc at University of Leeds, Department of Electrical Engineering (funded by EPSRC), at IRISA/INRIA-VISTA PROJECT institute, France (funded by EUMETSAT-ESA) and at MedCom GmbH, Germany (funded by Marie-Curie grants).
    In 2011 he has nominated the Best Paper for the 5th International Conference on Energy and Development - Environment - Biomedicine 2011 (EDEB `11) with title “Spatial Uncertainty”, pp. 203-208, by S. Zimeras, Y. Matsinos.
    He has involved in national and international projects (FP7, ESPA, Marie-Curie). He has published more than 90 papers in journals and books chapters with material in topics like Data Processing, Big Data analysis, , Statistical Simulations, Medical Image analysis, Spatial Statistics, and Statistical Modelling with applications in with applications in biology and ecology,
