Manos Savvakis is a Professor (Department of Sociology/University of the Aegean), where he has been serving since 2007, teaching both on undergraduate and postgraduate level. Since October 2017 he also serves as an external Professor at the Hellenic Open University (MA Health Units Administration), in the section Sociological and Psychological Organization of Hospitals and Health Services.
His interests are mainly related to modern sociological theory, micro-sociology, research design, epistemology of applied social research and qualitative methods and techniques of social sciences. He is as well researching and writing on issues of health, healing, illness, disability and body, social exclusion/integration and immigration.
He was a lead researcher (2020-2022) in the research program Facing the Prospect of Long-Term Stay of Refugees and Immigrants in Greece: Highlighting the Demographic, Social and Economic Consequences and Their Importance for Acceptance by Greek Society, organized by the Department of Sociology of the University, (ELIDEK funding body, Proposal no. HFRI-FM17-2897).
