Second Chance: Turning Waste into Opportunity

Environmental Transition Democracy & Human Rights, Inclusion & Gender Equality Arts & Edges

Social Challenge Addressed

Furniture waste is increasing while repair culture is disappearing. In Bulgaria, large amounts of furniture and appliances are discarded despite being repairable, while vulnerable groups face unemployment and limited access to affordable household goods. The lack of structured reuse systems and inclusive employment opportunities creates both environmental waste and social exclusion.

Description of the Solution / Business Idea

Second Chance Club is a community-driven social workshop that collects, repairs, and redistributes discarded furniture and household items. Through collaborative repair workshops, the project connects people and objects in a shared creative and social experience — turning repair into an accessible, community-building activity that creates training and employment opportunities for vulnerable groups while offering affordable products to low-income households. The model combines circular economy principles with social inclusion to create sustainable local impact.
