Social Entrepreneurship Course
An intensive course on social entrepreneurship, sustainable business models, and impact measurement
Course Overview
The course officially kicked off on March 17th, 2025, after an exciting selection process that drew overwhelming interest from across the alliance. With over 220 applications received, a total of 80 students from all 8 ERUA universities were selected to begin this unique and inspiring journey.
This interdisciplinary course, developed collaboratively by academic experts across ERUA, is hosted under the ERUA Social Entrepreneurship Lab. Over the next 11 weeks, students will explore pressing social, environmental, and economic issues and learn how to tackle them through entrepreneurial innovation.
The course includes 9 modules, delivered by a team of experienced educators, combining live and self-paced learning activities. One of the highlights: a module offered in all 8 ERUA languages!
From learning about EU policies and funding opportunities to gaining hands-on experience in developing social business ideas, this course is designed to empower and equip students with the tools to drive real change. Learning Objectives
- Gain knowledge of EU policies, funding opportunities, and frameworks for social entrepreneurship
- Develop practical skills for identifying and developing social business opportunities
- Learn to address European and global challenges such as migration, climate change, human rights, and sustainability through entrepreneurial innovation
- Acquire hands-on experience in developing social business ideas and initiatives
Assessment
Students will be assessed through:
- Participation: Minimum 75% attendance at course sessions is required
- Final Project: Positive evaluation of submitted Social Initiative/Business Plan
- Certificate: Awarded upon meeting both attendance and assessment criteria
- ECTS Credits: Available depending on individual university policies
Course Details
Duration: 11 weeks (34 total hours: 32h in English + 2h in local languages)
Credits: ECTS available (university-dependent)
Language: English + multilingual support (one module in all 8 ERUA languages)
Format: Online via Moodle platform (mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities)
Prerequisites: English language proficiency (CEFR framework); no prior business experience required
